Care to try your hand at doll-making, pottery or decorative painting? How about floorcloths, woodcarving or quilting?
At the Fletcher Farm School in Ludlow, a converted farm is the backdrop for dozens of courses taught by professional craftspeople from around the state. Classes generally run two, three or four days with students enjoying comfortable lodgings in two buildings known as "the Roost" and "the Nest." Classes are offered throughout June through early September.
At the Shelburne Craft School, year-round craft classes cover subjects in wood, clay, fine arts, fiber and surface design, metal and stained glass. The School regularly offers concentrated two-day weekend workshops and clinics that are ideal for out-of-state visitors. And thanks to a great location in historic Shelburne Village, the attractions of the Champlain Valley are close at hand, including the Shelburne Museum, Shelburne Farms, Mt. Philo State Park and the city of Burlington.
