The name “Vermont” conjures many images: majestic green mountains, sparkling streams, peaceful lakes, and a quaint New England bed and breakfast. Since the time Vermont’s first inn opened, the Green Mountain State has become famous for the number, variety, and quality of its Bed & Breakfasts (B&Bs). Burlington and the Lake Champlain Region boast one of the biggest and best B&B collections of all, with nearly 40 B&Bs of every description and price range to choose from. Each B&B offers their guests’ personal service, unique and charming accommodations, as well as homemade breakfasts.
Ranging from stately hilltop mansions that define B&B luxury, to smaller, more intimate settings, the Lake Champlain Region has so much to offer. A number of B&Bs are within walking distance of Burlington’s historic Church Street Marketplace. Many in the region offer stunning views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks to the west.
The Lake Champlain Region also includes a host of smaller towns, each with its own character, history, and attractions. One of the best known is Shelburne, just ten minutes south of Burlington on Route 7. Shelburne is also home of the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory, the Shelburne Museum, and Shelburne Farms - three of Vermont’s most popular attractions.
